The tournament offer much bigger money as $420 million by FIFA , 60 percent increase on the 2006 competition. The 32 qualified participants will take home $1million before the tournament for the preparation costs. To those teams will win at the group stage also receive $8 million, $9 million for Round of 16, $18 million for quarter-finals, $20 millions for semi-finals, and $30 millions for 2010 FIFA World Cup Champion.

FIFA World Cup 2010 will be the 19th FIFA World Cup and this will be the first time that the soccer tournament has been hosted by African nation. South Africa is a part of the five African nations who placed bids to host the 2010 World Cup and was selected as the host for the 2010 World Cup as part of a new policy to rotate the event between football confederations. The other four nations were Morocco, Egypt, Libya/Tunisia (co-hosting).
