2009 FIFA World Cup
The 2009 FIFA Confederation Cup takes place in South Africa last year June 14 to June 28, 2009 in preparation for FIFA World Cup 2010. The competition has settled as a precursor to the world’s biggest soccer tournament and takes place every four years. The competition format splits the teams into two round-robin groups of four from which the top two advance to the semi-finals and then the final round.
The 2009 FIFA World Cup was the eight Confederation Cup held in South Africa and the draw was held on November 22, 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Each team was represented in the draw by its competitor in the Miss World 2008 competition, except for Iraq team which was represented by Miss World 2007. The competition was won by Brazil soccer team who retained the trophy they won in 2005 by beating the United States 3-2 in the final game.
